Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year falls on Thursday, February 19, 2015 this year. Did you know that Chinese New Year is the largest holiday traveled ever? In China, hundreds of millions of people travel home in what is considered the world's biggest annual human migration.

Approximately three billion trips will be made by plane, train and car over the 40-day period.

In China, the Chinese New Year is also known as the Spring Festival. Traditionally, the festival was a time to honor deities as well as ancestors. Each year, the New Year is associated with one of the 12 zodiac animal signs. The 12 signs are the Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig.

This year is the year of the Goat; the eighth Chinese Zodiac.
